The University of New Mexico is proud to offer the finest golfing in the Southwest. The Championship Golf Course at the University of New Mexico, locally known as UNM South or “the Monster,” is a complete golf complex with an 18-hole course, 3-hole beginner course and a driving range. It has been ranked among the Top 25 public golf courses in the nation by Golf Digest magazine and has hosted several major tournaments, including PGA and LPGA qualifying events. Designed by well-known architect Robert “Red” Lawrence, The Championship Golf Course features rolling fairways and undulating greens that offer the player a unique golfing experience. You can expect the unexpected on this course dotted with traps, water hazards, elevated greens and tees, gullies and ridges. It is a meticulously maintained course that’s sure to challenge even the most experienced golfer. Located south of the University near the Albuquerque International Sunport, the Championship Course commands a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding Rio Grande Valley. In addition to the Championship Golf Course, UNM offers an excellent nine-hole course, conveniently located on UNM’s North Campus. The 6646-yard UNM North Golf Course is an ideal setting for a few hours of play in the middle of the day. Come play a round at UNM and see what makes it the finest golfing in the Southwest. Open year-round, weather permitting. Tee times are recommended; reservations are taken up to 7 days in advance (longer if secured by a credit card.) Soft spikes and collared shirts are required. Facility / Services: Putting Green, Pitching Green, Practice Range, Instruction, Snack Bar, Restaurant, Bar, Pro Shop, Carts, Pull Carts, Club Rental, and Tournament Services, Meeting and Reception Services, 3-Hole Beginner’s Course. Credit Cards Accepted: VISA and MasterCard. Fees: Weekdays $39.00, Weekends $45.00 (includes cart). Out-of-State fees are $57.00 weekdays with cart; $67.00 weekends with cart. Please call for senior, group, junior, student, and twilight golf information. Getting There: Take I-25 south to the Rio Bravo Exit. Turn left and continue 1/2 mile to the course.
