The University of New Mexico is proud to offer the finest golfing in the Southwest. The Championship Golf Course at the University of New Mexico, locally known as UNM South or “the Monster,” is a complete golf complex with an 18-hole course, 3-hole beginner course and a driving range. It has been ranked among the Top 25 public golf courses in the nation by Golf Digest magazine and has hosted several major tournaments, including PGA and LPGA qualifying events.
Designed by well-known architect Robert “Red” Lawrence, The Championship Golf Course features rolling fairways and undulating greens that offer the player a unique golfing experience. You can expect the unexpected on this course dotted with traps, water hazards, elevated greens and tees, gullies and ridges. It is a meticulously maintained course that’s sure to challenge even the most experienced golfer.
Located south of the University near the Albuquerque International Sunport, the Championship Course commands a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding Rio Grande Valley. In addition to the Championship Golf Course, UNM offers an excellent nine-hole course, conveniently located on UNM’s North Campus.
